Reform—to change or improve
Protestant Reformation—a movement in 16th century Europe that ended the domination of the Catholic Church, as many new types of Christianity emerged—any version of Christianity that is not Catholic is called “Protestant”
Indulgence—an old practice of paying priests for forgiveness instead of traditional forms of penance
Excommunicate (literally “away from the community”)—to forcibly remove someone from a society, usually used in the context of kicking one out of a religious faith
Predestination—the idea that God has destined the afterlife for every soul that has ever and will ever live
